Miguel Heredia is a Brooklyn born artist, New York City native who studied illustration & cartooning at both The High School of Art & Design and The School of Visuals Arts. As a self professed Gen X'er he applied his generations D.I.Y. ethic into becoming a artist in the downtown New York City art & alternative scene. From intricate window displays for such legendary shops as Tower Records, Cheap Jacks and several others, to working with bands, labels and record distributors, for poster, CD, LP and compilation art.
Miguel was also a core member of Site 51, an artist collective established in the early 90's to promote up and coming underground artists from the NYC scene. Site 51 had over 15 shows all over New York, from clubs to galleries. These shows would sometimes include over 30 artist, plus music and entertainment. Miguel established himself as a "Tour de Force" of the Site 51 movement as the lead in organizing and promoting their run of shows at the legendary Webster Hall.
In the early 2000's Miguel joined The Mx Network. Another collective of creatives in the professional media field, dedicated to promoting each others work in a networking and mixer set up. From art to video, media displays, DJ's and recruiters for six years The Mx Network events (The place where Style, Art, Media & Music meet, Mix it up @ MX!) brought the party to lounges and clubs throughout NYC.
Mr. Heredia's art has also made it into the national small press, semi-professional, 'zine and the independent comic book market. Working on diverse subjects as horror, single panel cartoons, editorial and gaming publications. His work over the years as also included clients such as The Brooklyn T-Shirt Factory, The Art Asylum, contract work for licensed properties and commissioned projects.
Miguel continues to work with bands, labels, publications and cross platform media. Over the years he has also become a sought after multi-media designer. Nice things said about me & Hard Grafixs©
"Miguel Heredia is a Brooklyn-based designer / illustrator artist who has produced numerous pieces for the New York underground music scene. His editorial and illustrative work includes art for magazines such as Eulogy, White Knuckles, Free Spirit, Rocktober, Archer Books and Aberrations Magazine. Miguel reports that his most creative ideas come to him as he watches the mad-pounding pros of wrestling!"
"Brooklyn artist MIGUEL HEREDIA makes his third appearance in WHITE KNUCKLES with a piece that shows him at his most subtle and sedate."
"Miguel Heredia is one of those rare finds thats flows from the dark of the unknown to surprise and delight. We were lucky enough to catch the scent of him in the wind, When we visited his den of design, we were amazed at the multitude of exquisite creations from this prolific illustrator. The bold and expressive strokes with which he captures monsters of mythical proportions burn into the mind. Somewhere, within his human frame, is contained a beast yearning for freedom. Until its escape from the fragile condition of confinement, the pen is it's outlet."
"Miguel Heredia brings his supernatural expertise to bare in our centerfold section. His particular skill at creating monstrous creatures comes alive in these pages as he takes us on a romp through his unique world. He has the ability to capture his creatures to such detail that, if you listen carefully, you might be able to hear their creaking, groaning and slurping. His strong strokes are deftly created with such confidence that it suggests he pinions these awesome inspiring monstrosities in poses for his use. With such a dreadful collection at his command, he is a force to be reckoned with. Let his works touch you with their imagery and pray that you never meet them face to face. In order to understand a bit more of this fascinating artist, we asked him to present a few words about himself. As you delve into his dark mind, remember, this is only what he wants you to know."
